About the event
Bláithí was founded on 15th of November 2024 when its co co-founders Sarah and Lavie were having a tea spilling session at the Harmish bar in UCC (this was 10 in the morning, they were drinking coffee). Feeling inspired to start a creative project, they both shared this urge to grow and create something. After a frenzied note jotting, bouncing back and forth ideas and another tea session (this time in SOMA coffee..) 'Bláithí' was bom.Bláithí (Phonetically: "Blaw-hee') is derived from the Gaeilge word Bläthanna meaning flower, in this case 'little flower. The name was inspired from Lavie's time in the Gaeltacht in Spiddal, Galway, whose bean an ti had a 'madra beag' called Bláithí. Sarah who studies English at UCC also takes a module: GA1003 Bunstaidéar ar Theanga agus ar Chultúr na Gaeilge. She felt that the project should be as Gaeilge!
